At CES 2023 (International Consumer Electronics Show), Mercedes-Benz announced that it had received approval for its Level 3 automated assisted driving tech, Drive Pilot, in Nevada. With Nevada's approval, Mercedes-Benz becomes the first automaker to get approval for Level 3 autonomous driving in US.

Drive Pilot allows the control of vehicles to be taken over by system under certain conditions, which enables drivers to do other things while driving, like replying message or browsing the web. According to the classification of SAE, Level 3 automated vehicles can travel at speeds up to 64 km/h on roadway with traffic congestion.

Mercedes-Benz also claims that its latest Automatic Lane Change (ALC) feature will enter the North America market this year. ALC enables the vehicle to change lane automatically and overtake slower vehicles with cruise control system activated.
